My fascination with Japanese fashion began a few years ago after I discovered a draw full of Issey Miyake cauliflower tops at my Grandma's house. I was completely mesmerised by the bizarre texture, I'd never seen anything like it before. I looked up the brand and was amazed by the clothes I discovered. I had no familiarity with the world of avant garde and was completely unaware clothes quite like it existed. From there, my obsession began.

These Japanese designers don't create pretty clothing. Their designs play with structure, texture and shapes in ways that few western designers seem to be doing. There are absolutely NO rules and most of the clothes are utterly bonkers, which is what makes them so captivating. Many people say that fashion is about expression, aren't these the most expressive clothes you've ever seen? Each piece has a story of it's own.
